Friday, March 12, 2010

Update: 6:12PM CIKOBIA villagers have started packing basic necessities such as food and water in preparation of Tropical Cyclone Tomas, which is expected to begin affecting the Northern division in 32 hours.

Nalele villager, Sulita Masibilo said the women in her village didn't waste any time after receiving news of the cyclone warning.

She said the women have packed all the food, water and warm clothes for their children in case they are moved to evacuation centres.

Mrs Masibilo said the women know too well the effects of cyclones that hits the island, thus the preparation.

DISMAC officials in Labasa have been in touch with the villagers and the health centres on the island to ensure that preparations were being finalised.
