Rotuma trip off as depression looms

Friday, March 12, 2010

Update: 2:36PM BLIGH Water shipping has postponed a voyage to Rotuma as a tropical depression heads for Fiji.

Company chief executive Abraham Simpson said their ship was scheduled to leave for Rotuma tonight but the trip has been called off.

The two trips were to leave Suva tonight for Vanua Levu and Rotuma but following the tropical cyclone warning, we have deferred both trip until further notice, Mr Simpson said.

Meanwhile, Patterson Brothers Shipping Limited and Consort Shipping  have not changed  schedules at this stage.

Shipping offices confirmed that voyages from Nabouwalu to Natovi would go ahead tomorrow.

A Consort shipping vessel is expected to leave Suva for Vanua Levu at 6pm today.

However, officials said that this could change later in the afternoon.
