NAVUA youngster Shonal Sharma is top choice to win the junior footballer of the year award in the Fiji Football Association annual awards night on Saturday.
The 18-year-old, second year law student at the University of the South Pacific was the youngest member of the national beach soccer team that toured Tahiti last year for the Oceania qualifiers.
He debuted for Southern Forest Navua in the 2006 National League as a 15-year-old and is captain of the southerner's champion futsal and beach soccer teams.
Southern giants Navua is in the running for the top awards as well.
The side dominated local competitions last year and set a new record by winning seven titles including a first ever Inter District Championship IDC, Fiji FACT, Football for Hope, National Futsal Championship, Beach Soccer Championship, Mirchi All Stars Series and the National Club Championship.
In its best ever performance in the National League, Navua finished second behind Lautoka.
Navua boss Anil Sharma, who was elected as a Fiji FA vice-president last year is expected to walk away with the administrator of the year award.
Former Fiji Under-20 coach Gurjeet Singh, who surpassed expectations in his two years in-charge of the side, is the frontrunner for the coach of the year while inspirational captain and one of the most decorated footballers to come out of Rotuma, Pene Erenio is a top bet for player of the year award.
Navua is also tipped for the team of the year award.
A total of eleven awards will be the highlight of the function including awards for best referee, fair play, media personnel and the popular footballer of the year to be determined through public voting.
Fiji FA chief executive Bob Kumar said preparations for the annual gala were underway.
"Everything is under control. We're going through the nominees and short listing them.
"The awards recognise the achievements of players and officials. There are personal and team awards," he said.
The awards night will be held at the Noble House in Suva.
