Bus fare help set for Feb 8

Saturday, January 30, 2010

THE busfare scheme is expected to begin in the third week of Term One, starting February 8.

Students must fill a transport assistance form, the Ministry of Education said in a statement.

The assistance is applicable to all primary and secondary students.

"This means if there are four students in a family, each student must fill a form," the statement said.

"Parents are requested to complete the forms with supporting documents as soon as possible to avoid delays."

The ministry said the forms would be assessed by teachers.

The teachers would then make one of three recommendations - eligible, ineligible or doubtful which would need clarification.

The forms were expected to be sent to headquarters yesterday. The second and final assessment will be carried out at headquarters and schools will be formally notified of students eligible for assistance.
