Koya family mourns mum

THE children of the late Siddiq Moidin Koya and the Muslim community are mourning the loss of their mum and matriarch Amina, who was laid to rest in Lautoka yesterday.

Mrs Koya, the wife of the late SM Koya died on Sunday night at her Lautoka home.

Her funeral was attended by the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, members of the Fiji Muslim League, the National Federation Party and the general public.

The 79-year-old woman who was regarded as the strength of the Koya household died after a short illness.

Her youngest child Magistrate Faizal Koya said their mum had sacrificed a lot for him and two older siblings.

He described the former school teacher as a driving force within the family.
