THREE Hollywood stars and players from six nations are part of a major attempt to boost sports tourism in the country.
This is part of the buidup to next month's Fiji Tennis Invitational Classic on Denarau Island.
Everybody Hates Chris star Tyler James Williams, R&B artist and star of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air Tatyana Ali and Big Momma's House star Nia Long are Hollywood guests, who will mingle with players from the USA, Slovakia, India, China, Philippines and South Korea.
Rising stars of the United States Tennis Association and Women's Tennis Association are also expected to cause some waves at the event from February 2 to 7.
According to organisers, the event is an opportunity to re-introduce the beautiful Fiji Islands to the international sporting world from 2010.
Tourism Fiji chairman Patrick Wong said events such as sports, festivals and religious events targeted specialised groups for different market segments, creating a yearly and annual calendar of events. He said the investment would improve foreign exchange earnings and balance of payments.
"Also extending the benefits of the tourism dollar throughout the community and creating the much needed employment all year round," he said.
