THE Fiji National Blood Service has thanked all blood donors and organisations who helped in organizing blood drives in 2009.
National Blood Service Manager Josefa Bolaqace said there were too many people to thank this year and that there were a lot of individuals who helped the good cause this year.
A lot of corporate companies such as Vodafone, The Fiji Times, Bank of Baroda, the Sathya Sai Religious Organisation, Vinod Patel and ANZ Bank had been working behind the scene to ensure there were sufficient blood levels all the time at the three blood banks at the Lautoka Hospital, Labasa Hospital and CWM Hospital in Suva.
"We owe a lot to individuals who donated blood and corporate organizations who organised blood drives," Mr Bolaqace said.
"And we thank all the corporate companies and organisations who helped in organizing blood drives."
Mr Bolaqace said Vodafone had helped tremendously by sending SMS messages on blood drives to members of the public asking them to donate blood at the various blood drives held.
"They helped us a lot through their SMS messages and we are thankful to them for that," Mr Bolaqace said.
He also urged members of the public to continue visiting the three major hospitals and donate blood at this time of the year.
"This is when we really need blood because a lot of offices close off at the end of the year and we need blood at the blood banks daily," he said.
"Our blood banks are open daily and we would love to serve anyone who comes with this gift of life for those who need it.
"At the same time we hope that many will continue to help us in future."
