SCIENCE fiction movie Avatar, is taking Fiji by storm following its launc on December 17.
The James Cameron-produced movie that was to show in both Village cinemas in Suva and Lautoka for two weeks will go on for a month due to public demand.
It has been established that some patrons have gone to see the movie more than twice.
Village Six cinemas in particular, continue to sell out tickets for each of the five shows daily.
Cinema managing director Div Damodar said tickets continued to sell out.
One cinema has been allocated for this movie that continue to record more than 230 people for each show.
"Ticket sales are steadily going since we launched. It's amazing how people have responded to this movie," Mr Damodar said.
"The 3D version is also very popular because of its blowing up effects and that people are able to be part of the movie, another masterpiece of James Cameron," he said.
"And the same reaction we are getting from Lautoka's Village 4."
3D tickets are sold for $6 and normal version sold at $3.50. Viliame Kamikamica of Toorak in Suva said: "It's too good. I was looking forward to this movie for some time and it was worth the wait".
He said the concept used was amazing to combine reality and science.
"Another state of the art production by James Cameron," said another fan Lisa Navuata.
Navuata traveled from Korovou to watch this movie with her cousins in Suva.
"I've read and heard a lot of this movie when it was coming and I really wanted to see it. And I have watched three times already," Ms Navuata said.
Fiji Times graphic artist Mary Evans said she had never had the urge to settle in another place before, until she saw Pandora.
