SEATS on the direct flight from Nadi to Hong Kong are in hot demand, says Air Pacific general manager, Watson Seeto.
He was pleased with the operations of the direct flight introduced on December 3.
"The 11th and the 13th flights have been sold out and there are heaps of customers asking for further information about the flight to Hong Kong," he said.
"At the moment there are two trips per week between Nadi and Hong Kong. With the rise in demand, the company will either increase its number of flights to Hong Kong or change to a larger plane."
The B767 aircraft that flies the route can accommodate 256 passengers -- 18 business class seats and 238 economy class seats.
Mr Seeto said there were many packages available, and ecotourism was one factor that attracted Asians to visit Fiji.
He said there were many queries on potential investment in Fiji properties from mainland China.
He said he would raise this issue with the Fiji Islands Trade and Investment Bureau.
Air Pacific manager Fiji and Pacific Islands, Shaenaz Voss, said the direct flight had created greater travelling opportunities.
"It's a great opportunity to provide a link for Fiji and the Asian countries because most of the flights connect here," she said.
"It serves as a one-stop flight for passengers to European countries as well."
Ms Voss said the direct flight would boost tourism and impact on trade.
