The young Flying Fijians who were without the services of Deacon Manu, Nicky Little, Seremaia Bai and Mosese Rauluni, overcame the 19th IRB world ranked Romanians, 29-18 at Arcul de Triumf Stadium in Bucharest, Romania.
Romania who boasts the services of former All-Black, Steve McDowall as their strength and conditioning coach were no easy beats with Fiji having to work hard throughout the match.
Flying Fijians manager Joseph Browne knew it wasn't going to be a walkover.
"This will be a hard fought game," he had said before kick-off.
"Romania have beaten us before back at the 91 World Cup and its their 75th-year anniversary so I'm sure they will put in a good performance against us
"We have a relatively young squad as we look to focus on giving some younger players some international experience as we head towards the Rugby World Cup in 2011."
The match was played in chilly 11 degrees in the capital, Bucharest.
