DESPITE being the only female entrant, 10-year-old Lorraine Mulan wants to win top honours at the U10 Suva Tennis Association Championship today.

Mulan wants to defy all odds at the Bank of Baroda-sponsored event.

The Nadi Muslim Primary School student said it was a huge challenge to be the only female participant.

She said she was taking each game at a time.

"I'm enjoying my time out here. My aim is to win this U10 category and prove my worth against these male players," she said.

Mulan's elder sister, Tarani Mulan is one of the favourites to win the Open Women's singles finals today.

Mulan said her elder sister was her role model.

She was first introduced to the sport by her father while she was one-year-old.

The Rotuman lass said she wanted to don the national jumper one day.

"My career goal is to represent Fiji at the highest level in tennis. I'll work hard towards to that and I believe the support from my family would make it possible for me."
