Hundreds of people flocked to Albert Park yesterday for the final day of the Miss South Pacific Pageant.
Large crowds gathered to witness the 12 contestants disembark from their floats onto the stage for the special awards presentation.
Miss Fiji Mere walesi Nailatikau performed a meke dance on her float from the Flea Market to Albert Park while Miss Cook Islands Engara Gosselin wowed the crowd with a hula dance.
Miss South Pacific 2008 Vanessa Marsh was surrounded by oversized flowers while Miss Tuvalu Akelita Pesega gave the crowd something to cheer about with her cultural dances.
Children were invited for Christmas at the Park. Free gifts were distributed by Santa Clauses and children's book characters.
The contestants also got into Christmas spririt and helped distribute free goodies and wrapped presents to the children.
Miss Tuvalu won the best float award followed by first runner up Miss Kiribati and a tie for third runners up Miss Fiji and Miss Tonga.
Police spokesman Sergeant Atunaisa Sokomuri said the Fiji Police Force brass band were also part of the float procession to Albert Park.
