Death spurs Blues outfit

Saturday, November 28, 2009

THE Shop n Save Lautoka Blues want to win their third Oceania League clash against Tafea FC and dedicate it to the late wife of team manager Tarunesh Reddy.

Reddy lost his wife, Rukshna Reddy, yesterday morning.

The Natabua High School teacher died after a short illness.

Lautoka soccer boss Shalen Prasad said the players were concerned by the loss but have stayed focused on the match.

"The players were disturbed because Tarunesh was so attached to the team. We paid a visit to his home today (yesterday)," he said.

"We will not have any training tomorrow (today), instead the players will attend the funeral."

Prasad said the loss has not deterred the morale in the camp but has encouraged the players to do well against Tafea FC.

"The players want to win this match and dedicate it to his (Tarunesh) wife," Prasad said.

"The players have also requested he join the camp on Sunday. Hopefully, he will be with us."

Prasad confirmed all the players have been cleared for the match.

"They should be fit to play after a day's rest. The preparation has been good and everything else is fine in the camp."

He said Tafea would play a fast paced game and to counter them, Lautoka would have to score first.

Tickets for the match are selling at $7 (pavilion A, B) $5 (embankment, pavilion C), $2 children Under-12 at the Lautoka City Council.

Children U12 accompanying parents will be allowed to sit in pavilion A and B.

The match kicks off at 3pm.
