NO individual sporting federation received specific allocations at the announcement of the 2010 Budget.
The Ministry of Sports received $928,000 compared to $2.4million last year.
The money will be used for overseas sporting tours, hosting of international tournaments, sports scholarships, sports outreach programs and for rural sporting facilities.
Government has allocated $100,000 each for overseas sporting tours, sports scholarships and sports outreach programs.
To host international tournaments, the ministry received $80,000.
The development and repair of rural sporting facilities has been allocated $200,000.
There are no major sporting tournaments that Fiji will take part in next year but the major events are all planned for 2011.
The Fiji rugby team will play in the 2011 World Cup in New Zealand and the national netball side at the World Championships in Singapore.
Team Fiji will take part in the 2011 Pacific Games in New Caledonia.
Meanwhile, FASANOC president, Vidhya Lakhan says they were "reasonably happy with what has been allocated for sports in the 2010 budget."
" In comparison to the 2009 allocations with the Hosting of International Events in Fiji has been reduced and the Scholarship Budget has been increased," Lakhan said.
"I am surprised that the hosting of international events allocation has been reduced in view of the Government's heavy reliance on inbound tourism to help the economy.
"If anything I would have expected the Government to increase the allocation, thus encouraging our national federations to stage international events in Fiji."
Lakhan was concerned that there was no allocation for funds for Team Fiji to the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games.
"It is very likely, from the Government's viewpoint; the unce-rtainty surrounding Fiji's membership to the Commonwealth must have led to the non allocation of funds for Delhi.
"We will certainly be taking the matter up with the Ministry of Sports to ensure provision is made for the Delhi Games once our participation is confirmed, which in my view is a formality."
