PHARMACISTS from Fiji and the region are meeting in Suva this week to discuss how to establish mechanisms to guarantee that Tuberculosis medicine and commodities are delivered to health services at the right moment and in sufficient quantity.
The week-long workshop is organised by the Fiji School of Medicine, World Health Organisation and the Global Drug Facility.
A workshop facilitator, Nigor Sulton, said the main aim of the workshop was to encourage medical officials concerned to get quality TB drugs and not cheap quality medicine which could increase the emergence of multi-drug resistance.
Ms Sulton said it was important for health officials to know how to use the drugs supplied to them and how to order new drugs when they were in need.
