Lautoka fails to secure playmaker's transfer release

Friday, November 27, 2009

THE Shop n Save Lautoka Blues have dropped Vanua-tu international Seimata Chillia from their 2009/2010 O-League campaign.

A frustrated Blues president Shalendra Prasad yesterday slammed the door shut on the former Su-va and Labasa rep after failing to obtain his International Transfer Certificate.

Prasad said the Vanuatu Football Federation turned down their request for Chi-llia's ITC.

He said there were some problems between the VFF, Chillia and his club.

Prasad said as a result, they would no longer pursue Chillia's services.

"It's unfortunate that it has turned out this way," Prasad said.

"Chillia is ready to come. He wants to play for Lautoka. But without an ITC it is no use to get him across."

Samu Kautoga, Malakai Waqa and Apisai Smith who were down with a viral infection on Wednesday resumed light training.

Keni Doidoi, who injured his ankle during the National Club Champion-ship playoffs a fortnight ago, was also part of yesterday's training run.

Arvindra Naidu is still down with viral infection.

Prasad said Doidoi and Naidu would have to pass a fitness test today.

He said if the players were not fully fit then they would not be part of the squad to play Tafea FC on Sunday.

"Our fitness trainer Lemeki Qiri has been pushing the boys hard at training," Prasad said.

"Two of our vice preside-nt's have taken the team management roles. Taru-nesh Reddy is the team manager while Shalend Tu-lsi is the team director for the O-League."

The Blues have received a boost with the release of three overseas players for Sunday's clash.

Australia-based Ma-rconi FC players James Chronopoulos (goalkeeper) and Nahuel Arrarte (midfielder) arrive in the country this evening.

New Zealand-based Salesh Kumar will join the team tomorrow.

Tickets for the match are selling at $7 (pavilion A, B) $5 (embankment, pavilion C), $2 children Under-12 at the Lautoka City Council.

Prasad said tickets for the international fixture were selling fast.

He said children Under-12 accompanying parents wo-uld be allowed to sit in pavilion A and B.

Prasad said this two pavilions had a capacity of 3700 spectators.

"There is big capacity on the embankment and in pavilion C. The combined capacity for these two sections is over 10,000."

The match kicks off at 3pm.
