NEW Gloucester winger and former Vodafone Fiji Bati rugby league star Semi Tadulala is likely to play his first union match for Fiji against Romania this week.
Tadulala joined the team on Tuesday to fill the vacuum left by France-based players who headed back to their clubs this week.
Tadulala starred for the Fiji Bati side at the Rugby League World Cup in Australia last year, and will be out to repeat his performance for the Flying Fijians.
The former Bradford super league star watched a few training videos of the national side on Tuesday night before his first two training sessions yesterday.
Brewer said they would have to see how the towering winger performs at training before making a decision.
"Semi has joined the team now but we'll need to assess his performance at training before making a decision on whether he will play against Romania."
He said he has heard "good things" of the former rugby league player.
"To be honest I haven't seen Semi play during his rugby league career. I believe all rugby league players turned out to be very good and skillfull as rugby union players.
"The expectation is there that he'll blend in well at training," the former All Blacks said.
Tadulala is likely to feature at outside centre or on the wing if given a chance by the national coaching panel.
