THE Navua soccer team has confirmed it will play against the Vodafone Mirchi All Stars side but is disappointed with the way organisers are treating them.
Fiji Broadcasting Corporation (FBC) had made changes in the much-anticipated match to be played on December 13, shifting the venue from the tfl National Stadium to Churchill Park in Lautoka on December 13.
FBC earlier said the change was because of the unavailability of the National Stadium due to maintenance work.
However, Navua claims that the tfl National Stadium is available whole of next month.
Match co-ordinator Sachin Prasad said they received confirmation from the Fiji Sports Council after necessary preparations to hold the game at Churchill Park was done.
FSC facilities manager Shelvin Williams also confirmed the initial maintenance plan has been moved to next year and the ground will be available until then.
Navua soccer boss Anil Sharma said there was still plenty of time to make the changes and bring back the match to the tfl National Stadium. "Navua is not saying that we will not play. We just want the game to be in Suva for our fans," Sharma said.
"We have been in dark about this (ground unavailability) and are quite disappointed in the way FBC is organising things."
Prasad said the match venue issue will be sorted once Fiji FA president Shams-ud Dean Sahu Khan is back in the country.
Meanwhile, FBC will announce the All Star team by next week.
"We officially closed our texting competition on Sunday. We are processing the information and will hand over to an independent auditor for verification of the data before the announcement of the team," Prasad said.
He said they received a positive response. "People are looking forward for this game," Prasad said.
