THE Blues are racing against time to secure the International Transfer Certificate (ITC) of Vanuatu international Seimata Chillia ahead of Sunday's O-League clash against Tafea FC.
Former Suva midfield kingpin Chillia was booked on a flight yesterday but his arrival has been delayed because Vanuatu soccer officials are in New Zealand attending a FIFA workshop.
Lautoka president Shalen Prasad said he spoke to Fiji FA chief executive Bob Kumar, who is also attending the workshop to liaise with the Vanuatu officials.
"It's a waiting game for now. We will continue trying until Saturday," he said.
The Blues' bid for a third consecutive win in Pool B was boosted yesterday when veteran midfielder Keni Doidoi was cleared by the physio for the top of the table clash.
"Keni has joined camp today (yesterday)," Prasad said.
"It's a positive sign. For the next two days, he will be doing light training and it's most likely that he will start off the bench."
Prasad said even without several key players like Jone Vono Junior, Samuela Drudru, Semesa Nakosia and Niumaia Tagi, the Blues would come out firing to win their first ever international match at home.
"There's a lot at stake," he said.
"We still have a strong squad and since both teams are still unbeaten in the pool, it will be a very exciting clash."
Tickets for Sunday's game are selling at $7 for pavilion A and B. Entry to embankment and pavilion C is $5 while children under the age of 12 pay $2.
