ABOUT 1210 new jobs are expected to be created from 11 tourism project proposals for the Western Division.
The projects have a combined proposed investment value of about $240million.
According to the Fiji Trade and Investment Board, 15 projects had been registered in the past 10 months.
The projects were valued at $246.3million, ranging from resort and hotel development and operations to villa ownership.
The 11 projects earmarked for the West are by Morgan's Dream Ltd, Davison Enterprises, Cocoiardi Holdings Gulf Proprietary Ltd, Coral Palms Ltd, Naidiri Wildlife Safari Company, Roger Arnold Wellings, Pearnold Investment Nadi, Uciwai Villas, Blue Lagoon Beach Resort, Salisali Villas and Epic International.
The FTIB confirmed that the Chinese SSS International Hotel (Fiji) Limited, which was registered with FTIB in 2005, began construction of the first stage of their project early this year.
It said the hotel restaurant opening which was expected last month had been delayed.
The FTIB said the villas were expected to come into operation by mid next year.
