FUNDS to complete the dredging of the Nadi River will be provided for in the 2010 Budget, says the town's special administrator, Aisea Tuidraki.
Mr Tuidraki said dredging the river was the State's priority since Nadi was a tourist town.
He said the first two phases of dredging had been completed.
The second phase of the dredging cost about $3.7million.
Director for Land, Water and Resource Management Division of the Ministry of Primary Industries Lakshman Mudaliar earlier said the contract for the second phase was awarded to Hall Contracting (Fiji) Limited.
Mr Mudaliar said the second phase saw the removal of 360,000 cubic metres of spoil from about 3.75 kilometres starting at Moala Village and moving inland.
Hall Contracting (Fiji) Limited director of dredging operations, Brian Hall said the project would provide benefits to the people living in Nadi areas through reduced flooding.
