FIJI Government representatives hope to have formal consultations with the European Commission by having informal meets as a start, to get back in favour with the European body.
Head of government Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Solo Mara and Fiji's Ambassador to the EU, Peceli Vocea met the European Commission's Director-General for Development, Stefano Manservisi and his senior advisers.
The meeting in Brussels was considered fruitful and constructive, which Government believes has allowed each side to better understand each other.
Commodore Bainimarama briefed EC senior officials on the programs of institutional, judicial, constitutional and electoral reforms that are in place to begin in 2010 and in subsequent years and the reasons necessitating these reforms.
