SOLOMON Islander Lons-dale Meta will carry Suva's hopes in the boy's Under-14 400 metres race on Friday and Saturday.
The 14-year-old from Vuranimala Village in the district of Centrol provin-ce, says he wants to stamp his mark on his debut athletics competition.
"This is the first time I am taking part in athletics. I have prepared myself really well and I believe it will be a hard race for me."
The Class Eight student of Vatuwaqa Primary Sch-ool said it was an honour to represent a champion side like Suva.
He said winning a medal would be the icing on the cake for him.
"There is no competition like this at home and I'm looking forward to giving my best performance for Suva.
"My goal is to at least win a medal because this is only my first athletics competition," he said.
Meta's father is a student at the University of the South Pacific. His mum is at home in the Solomon Islands.
He wants to reward Suva for roping him in as one of their foreign athletes by representing Fiji in the future.
"I don't want to run for the Solomon Islands, I want to represent Fiji in athletics because it is a good country."
Meta will be competing in the 400m and 4x400m events.
