A CRACK at the Universal Boxing Organisation (UBO) super middleweight world title awaits Joy Ali if he beats Ghanaian Joseph Kwadjo next month.
Fiji champion Ali takes on Kwadjo for the UBO intercontinental super middleweight title on December 19 in Suva.
The fight will be staged by Golden Promotions. Promoter Sakaraia Ve Junior yesterday said he was ready to promote Ali on the world stage.
"The challenge is there for Joy (Ali)," he said. "The winner of December's fight can challenge for the UBO world super middleweight title which is held by Vanuatu's Kali Jacobs.
Ve wants a victory for Ali. "It will be best if Joy wins because the result will be great for Fiji boxing. If he (Joy) wins then the world title fight can be staged as early as March next year," he said.
"From there he can step further and challenge for World Boxing Association or World Boxing Council titles." Ve said while the bout was shaping up to be one of the biggest in Fiji, he was getting calls from concerned fans of the likelihood of Ali pulling out of the show. "That's cleared. Joy understands the importance of this fight to his career and has told me, there is no stepping back for him now."
Ve hopes to have the Fiji Boxing Commission sanction the program by Monday.
"At the moment the undercards are not confirmed. The ticket sales will start once the whole program is put together."
