MISS South Pacific Pageant contestant Merewalesi Nailatikau hopes to do her best while representing Fiji in the contest.
She said she was now getting her wardrobe ready for the pageant which starts in Suva on November 20.
"I have been visiting tailors and fashion designers the past weeks. It is good to have variety in my wardrobe," she said.
Ms Nailatikau said her tailors were Fijian, Indian and Chinese.
"One of the best things about Fiji is that it is so multi-cultural," she said.
Ms Nailatikau has also been learning traditional dances. "It was good to know that people make a career out of music and dances," she said.
She said she had been visiting schools and communities as part of her preparation.
She said the pressure on her now was more than during the Vodafone Hibiscus Festival.
"Instead of focusing on national issues, we will be concentrating on regional issues," Ms Nailatikau said.
As part of her preparation, she is working on her diet and getting enough rest. "I am looking forward to meeting all the other contestants," she said.
South Pacific Pageant organising committee chairman Dhansukh Lal Bhika said contestants from other Pacific Island countries would start to arrive from next week.
"All the contestants will be here and ready to go by Friday, November 20," he said.
He said Albert Park would be turned into a mini South Pacific - a place where all things Pacific will be showcased during the week-long event.
