SOCCER players in the Mirchi All Stars team will receive $150 each in weekly allowance to prepare for next month's promotional match against Inter District Championship winners Southern Forest Navua.
Fiji Broadcasting Corporation Limited chief executive Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum announ-ced $3000 prize money for the winning team at a press conference on Friday.
The Mirchi All Stars will comprise of players from nine super premier districts selected through public voting via a texting promotion.
"The voting stats will be verified before the final team is named," Sayed-Khaiyum said.
"The players will train together at the Dr Sahu Khan academy in Ba for a week.
"The votes are coming thick and fast and we're proud of the fact that we're doing this for the first time. We also have Navua team's support.
"Players from Ba are filling most positions at the moment but recently a lot of votes have been coming for Suva players."
Sayed-Khaiyum said overseas-based players like Roy Krishna would not be part of the team because of his overseas contract.
Krishna has so far received 10 per cent votes for the striker's position.
Sayed-Khaiyum said any profit from the game would be shared by Fiji FA and FBCL.
Fiji FA president Dr Sahu Khan expressed his gratitude for the new concept.
"It is a historical moment as players will be picked by members of the public," he said.
"We expect some teething problems as this will be the first year but we'll try hard to make it a success.
"We hope to finalise the team by next week," he said.
Players like Kamal Hassan, Malakai Waqa, Keni Doidoi, Samu Kautoga, Osea Vakata-lesau, Epeli Saukuru, Maciu Dunadamu, Shalen Lal, Malakai Tiwa, Uraia Loki, Filimone Boletawa and Krishna Sami are dominating votes for the respective positions.
The Mirchi All Stars play Navua on December 13 at Lautoka's Churchill Park.
