SHALEN Krishna dethroned champion Atama Vunibola to win the Fiji National Singles Darts Championship at the China Club in Suva yesterday.

Krishna beat favourite Vunibola 4-3 in the Fintel-sponsored annual tournament.

However, Lami Dart Association member Vunibola walked away with highest 180 score title.

Former national champion Rajen Mani was the highest scorer with 177.

Fiji Dart Association vice-president Prem Chand was impressed with the tournament turnout.

"We had 30 participants from the 32 registered for this tournament. Overall it was a very successful tournament," he said.

"The points were quite close and the competition was really tough."

Chand said competition would step another level at the Fiji Open later this month. "We are expecting a much better turnout than this and also a tougher competition during the Fiji Open."
