QUEEN Victoria School Old Girls team wants to win the Suva Sevens Series in rememberance of their late coach Vueti Maraiwai, who passed away early this year.
Maraiwai, the father of former national sevens rep Inoke Maraiwai, was the founder of the QVSOG team and yesterday coach Merewai Sokovata said a win would be perfect memorial for the late former coach.
Sokovata said the tournament would be tough but they had gone the extra yards for the past three weeks, polishing their moves before the women's competition kicks off tomorrow.
"We're ready for this tournament. Our late coach Vueti was the founder of this team and we want to remember him with a victory."
Sokovata has drafted the likes of Iva Vunikura, Tavaita Rowati, Talica Vodo and Rusila Tumoi to strengthen their campaign.
The former national rep said the inclusion of the four Fiji touch rugby reps was an added bonus for the team.
Vunikura, Rowati, Vodo and Tumoi were part of the women's touch rugby that won silver at the Pacific Mini Games in Cook Islands two months ago.
"These players have experience and their presence is so much needed in the team. They look very sharp and we'll bank on them to lead the charge for us," she said.
Meanwhile QVSOG are still wounded from their two point loss to Sea Hawks. Sokovata said this would be an ideal opportunity to strike back.
"It's going to be a good chance to take our revenge.
"I'm very confident these girls will record a win over Sea Hawks.
"We're not underestimating any team but we'll deliver the goods to march our way victoriously after the tournament," she said.
