Update: 1:57PM NEW Zealand's acting head of mission Todd Cleaver departed the official NZ residence in Suva at noon today, bound for Nadi.
It is understood he will be leaving Fiji for Auckland today. The next flight to New Zealand will leave at 6pm this evening.
This follows Tuesday evening's decision to give the Australian and New Zealand heads of mission 24 hours to leave Fiji.
Australian High Commissioner James Batley was believed to be out of the country when the decision was announced.
The expulsions were said to be the result of the impact of the Australian and New Zealand governments' positions on Fiji.
The developments come as Ratu Epeli Nailatikau today took the oath of office as President of Fiji. The ceremony was conducted at Government House in Suva at 9am this morning.
Following his induction as President, Ratu Epeli read the 13th century prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi - Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.
"Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace; where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy."
He will now take up full residence at Government House overlooking the Suva Harbour.
