Hibiscus funds cut up

Funds raised for the Vodafone Hibiscus Charity during the Vodafone Hibiscus Festival in August have been distributed to 25 organisations.

Hibiscus Event Group (Inc.) chairman and organiser of the Pacific Building Solution-sponsored Miss South Pacific pageant, Dhansukh Lal Bhikha said a total of $248,673.40 was distributed to 25 applicants that applied. The highest charity distribution was to Kidney Foundation who received $40,000. About $26,000 went to Foundation for Rural Integrated Enterprise N Development or FRIEND while $24,779.10 was given to Fiji Red Cross Society.

Other organisations that received the charity distribution inclulded Fiji Cancer Society with $14,400, Fr Peter Ryan Bilolevu Club with $15,600, National Fire Authority with $6000, Home of Compassion, Samabula Old People's Home and Father Law Home with $5000 each and Hilton Special School with $1000.

Assistance for heart patients through the Department of Social Welfare was allocated $18,000 while $13,615.30 was directed to the National Heart Foundaton.
