Nawatu, Baleiloa back

Friday, October 23, 2009

VALERIO Nawatu and Alifereti Baleiloa will feature for the Shop n Save Blues club in their crucial match against General Machinery United in the Lautoka local league on Sunday.

Nawatu and Baleiloa are on temporary suspension from the district team.

Lautoka Football Association president Shalendra Prasad clarified the duo's suspension does not affect their club commitments.

He said they were both free to for the Blues in the local league.

"Valerio and Baleiloa have been temporarily dropped from the Lautoka squad," Prasad said.

"So this does not affect their club status."

The two players were suspended following allegations of lack of commitment during the final of the Inter District Competition against Navua in Nadi earlier this month.

GM United and Shop n Save Blues will face-off in a top of the table clash at Churchill Park.

Both unbeaten teams boast a host of Lautoka reps.

GM United, the winner of the 2005 and 2006 National Club Championship, will have the likes of Jone Vono Junior, Kamal Hassan, Samuela Drudru, Niumaia Tagi, Malakai Waqa and Salesh Samy.

The Blues will include Samuela Kautoga, Marika Madigi, Samuela Vula, Leone Vurukania, Isikeli Jeke, Semesa Nakosia, Ilaitia Tuilau, Apisai Smith, Arvindra Naidu and Keni Doidoi.

The winner of this clash is likely to top Pool B as GM United, on 16 points, will face ASPAP Sports in their earlier clash.

ASPAP is the bottom placed team in the group.

The Blues with 19 points have only one match which is against GM United.

Prasad said the GM United versus Blues clash will be entertaining.

He said both teams had a lot to prove as they are gunning for a spot in the NCC playoffs.

"Press from the other pool needs a draw against Golf Links United to stamp its spot in next weekend's semi final," Prasad said.
