Fiji Bati presents i tatau

Friday, October 16, 2009

THE Fiji Bati side presented its i tatau to the vice President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau yesterday.

The Bati side, led by Newcastle Knights player Wes Naiqama, will participate in the Pacific Cup tournament in Papua New Guinea.

Fiji National Rugby League board member Rusi Ratakele said the players were lifted by Ratu Epeli's words.

"We were so blessed to be accepted by the vice President because it was the first national team to present the ai tatau after taking over from Ratu Josefa Iloilo," Ratakele said .

"The eyes of Wes Naiqama, Kevin Naiqama, Mike Ratu Junior just sparkled as the team were invited in the President's Lounge.

"The words of encouragement from the President made the Bati feel motivated and challenged the players though they come from England, New Zealand, Australia or Fiji.

"Our motto is Noqu Kalou Noqu Vanua which means My God My Country.

"The Bati sang their favourite World Cup Hym before they departed to the Hotel.

Ratakele said the teams thanked their sponsors - Toursim Fiji, Fiji Water and Vodafone Fiji -- for the support.
