THE Western Bulldogs will be in the country to launch the Australian Football League (AFL) tomorrow and scout local talent.
Fiji AFL chairman Damian Ames said this would help spread the AFL gospel in the country.
"We're looking forward to the launching of the AFL here in Fiji. There would be a competition on December 10-11 to identify other potential players," Ames said.
"The competition would between the age-group of 13-19 years and I believe the Western Bulldogs would be here to scout potential players."
Fiji has produced the likes David Rodan, Alipate Carlile and Nicolas Naitanui who have stamped their mark in the AFL competition.
Rodan and Carlie play their top footie with Port Adelaide, while Naitanui plays his trade for West Coast Eagles.
"We'll have some Fijian players like David Rodan and the Western Bulldogs team in the country during the launching on Friday."
Ames said it would be interesting to see more Fijian players in the AFL competition in the future.
"I believe there are more potential players in Fiji that can make it to the AFL competition."
He said plans are currently underway to further develop the level of the sport to another in 2010.
"Our main objective is to organize more competition to further boost the sport another notch," he added.
