HOTELS on the Coral Coast will discuss at their monthly meeting on Tuesday ways to get information of a tsunami before it reaches Fiji.
Fiji Islands Tourism and Hotel Association official Bob Kennedy said property owners were aware of the issue,
Mr Kennedy said the hotels would "become as much a victim as everyone else if we do not receive the warning on time".
He said most hotels had higher ground or hills close by but evacuating would be useless if they did not get the warning on time.
"We should get earlier warnings," Mr Kennedy said.
He said it was important for the information to be interpreted correctly so that it would not cause unnecessary fear.
Commissioner Western Joeli Cawaki said there was an urgent need for the hotels to be prepared.
