Nadi thumps Nasinu to avoid relegation

Monday, September 28, 2009

NADI thumped Nasinu in the NewWorld National Football League 4-0 and escaped the dreaded promotion relegation.

A brace from Viliame Toma and one goal each from Pritesh Ram and Mohammed Shameem was enough for the Jetsetters.

Nadi only managed to get out of the danger by winning its last match and now will use this as an inspiration to do wonders at the upcoming Courts Homcentres Inter District Championship.

"We are happy that we have survived and now the focus will be on the IDC," Nadi soccer president Jiten Kumar said.

Kumar said the team had played four games in eight days and managed to overcome the fatigue factor.

The side has acquired the services of Solomon Islands duo of Alick Maemae, pictured right, and Mostyn Beui in its bid to win the IDC on home soil.

IDC will played at Prince Charles Park on October 8-12.
