Students debate climate change

ENVIRONEMNTAL students from the University of the South Pacific engaged in an active discussion with youths from other Pacific islands yesterday on the issue of climate change adaptation.

Facilitator for the Econesian session based on building capacity through exchange of experiences, Tammy Tabe said their focus was getting other Pacific youths to talk about their experience with climate change. She said the discussion would urge youths to make a difference in their country.

"The seminar targeted individual approach to climate change," Ms Tabe said. "Discussions included possibilities and actions taken to address climate change. The seminar urged them to have a louder voice and to believe they can bring about chance." The seminar enabled youths to learn from others.

Local youth Mei Mili said the seminars on climate change were very interesting and were applicable to Fiji and other Pacific Island nations.
