YOUNG halfback Kolinio Vunaki and wing Sanaila Vitau starred as Naitasiri thumped Navosa 47-13 for a bonus point win in the Digicel Cup yesterday.
The win ensured the Highlanders remain in contention for the semi-finals.
Coached by former Fiji assistant coach, Reverend Joji Rinakama, the former champions showed glimpses of the form that made them a feared side
Vunaki landed six conversions, while Vitau got a brace of tries as Rinakama continued to blood young players.
Vunaki showed great kicking form and never looked like missing until his fourth kick of the day and out of the six, he managed to land three from the side lines.
The Naduri, Nadroga, native showed glimpses of New Zealand scrumhalf, Piri Weepu, with his tactical abilities and kicking skills.
Both of Vitau's touchdowns were a classic winger's finish.
Rinakama praised the two, saying younger players were the future.
"Vunaki played very well and his kicking was great, which is beneficial to Fiji rugby," Rinakama said.
"I was happy with the tries scored by Vitau."
But the error rate and hasty decision-making did not go down well with the padre.
"At times we did not take the right options and it is all about the mental toughness," Rinakama said.
"We need to work on that and other error prone areas as we have to win our remaining matches if we are to make the semis."
Both teams committed a number of basic errors unacceptable at the top level.
Rinakama said apart from winning the trophies on offer, his aim was to get most of his players into the national team.
In recent times the side has not been able to get too many of its players into the national side but Rinakama is ready to change that.
"I want to help most of these players to get into the national team," be vowed.
"That is my main aim as we want the best players for Fiji."
