Former Fiji Technical Vocational Training Center student Imran Ali Patel believes people with disabilities should be included in the workforce.

A former student of Fiji School for the Blind, Imran was able to find work in a garment factory but was laid off in March as a result of the economic cricis.

He now works at the centre making doormats. "I was a student at the centre for four years until I left when I got a job," he said.

Imran is happy with his job and working for the institution that trained him. However, finding a job in the work field is very hard.

Imran said people like him should be given an opportunity as the Employment Relations Bill stipulates two per cent of workforce must be made up of disabled people.

He has also worked as a receptionist for the centre.
