UPTOWN Gym trainer Gyan Singh says Zulfikar Joy Ali is scared of Pita Domoni and does not have the guts to jump into the ring with him.
Singh was responding to statements made by Ali after Domoni had issued an open challenge to Ali this week.
Domoni said he was looking at only two more local fights before he shifted his focus on overseas opponents.
"I have my eyes on only two locals, that is Sakeasi Dakua and Joy Ali," he said.
"I am willing to drop my weight to the super middleweight category if Ali agrees to fight me."
Domoni holds the Fiji Boxing Association light-heavyweight title.
However, Ali said he would only be willing to fight Domoni in the middleweight category.
Ali said he was ready to fight Domoni any time.
He said he was now fighting in the welterweight category but the fight against Domoni "can happen". "Yes, I am willing to fight Domoni but only if he drops his weight down to middleweight."
Ali said he was ready anytime, any where.
Gyan, the veteran trainer, said Ali did not have the guts to face Domoni and would continue to run away like he has done before some big fights.
"He should come out straight and say he is scared to fight to Domoni and not use the difference in weight to hide.
"Presently, he is even finding it hard to fight in the middleweight category because of his weight," Gyan said.
"If he is a real champion like he is saying, then he should take up the challenge.
"Some top world champions move up the weight category from middleweight to heavyweight because they have the guts to face the champions in the next weight class.
"But here, we have Ali running away to a lower weight when he sees that an opponent he is scared to face is coming after him.
"He has already run away from fights and he will continue to do it."
Domoni said if Ali agreed, then he was willing to fight as early as July.
Domoni will face Dakua in a supporting bout in the Toe to Toe boxing program at the Vodafone Arena this Saturday.
