Update: 11:45AM The interim government in its attempt to archive all state information has encouraged participants at an audio-visual workshop to gain the necessary skills collect, manage properly and kept for future use.
Addressing workshop participants at the National Archives, Deputy Secretary for Information, Major Neumi Leweni said record keeping in todays society was vital.
"Today's (yesterday) workshop is critical in our efforts to improve our services, but it is your participation that will determine its success.
"In order for archives and records, including audio visual archives, to be assessed easily they needed to be properly arranged and described. I understand there are certain skills required for this. Hence I would encourage you to actively participate in this workshop, there is a lot we can gain from it," he said.
The workshop was facilitated by staff from the National Archives of Australia.
The interim Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama today opened the new National Archives Building.
