Update: 3:49PM Winner of numerous Eco awards, Sonaisali resort is promoting sustainable tourism practice by encouraging tourists to take part in its eco friendly programs.
The programs are geared towards identifying the challenges of climate change.
Sonaisali Resort was the first in Fiji to be certified for the Green Globe Awards, which offered the recognition in light of the resorts move to operate at an environmental standard in 2007.
"The walls of the hotels, even in the main lobby we have actually put some of the by-products from the fallen seeds and to make eye catching natural pictures of art.
"We basically just try and use renewable resource where we can and so you find that we've used mangroves used on the walls, as artwork around tables and also a lot of coconuts its also used heavily in our new frangipani spa or the building structure is all clad mangroves," Sales and Marketing Manager, Karyn Blenhiron said.
