THE Suva Stallions 7s team plans to use the 2018 Fiji Bitter Marist 7s to expose its players.

The team consists of players from Nadroga who reside in Suva.

Team manager Peceli Degei said this would be the sixth year they would feature in the annual tournament.

Last year the team lost in the cup quarter-finals.

“We want this tournament to be different. We want to move a notch up to reach the semi-finals and if lucky, to win the tournament,” he said.

“It will be a big achievement for the players to expose their talents and hopefully get recognised by the national selectors.

“The last tournament we played in was the Nawaka 7s where we won the bowl competition. We couldn’t fill a team in the Uluinakau and Martinar 7s because our key players were called in for national duties.

“Hopefully our remaining players will be given a chance to showcase their talents and follow their teammates’ footsteps in representing their country.”

Degei said they were fortunate to have a warm-up match with First Light Taveuni.

“This is to brush up on our remaining set pieces, try out our game plans, identify our weaknesses and fix them before the tournament.”

The Suva team will play Army FTG in the pool matches on Friday.
