VILLAGERS of Denumanu on Yadua Island, Vuya, Bua, should be able to store their catch for longer once they receive their new solar-powered ice plant as promised to them by the Government.

Minister for Fisheries Semi Koroilavesau visited the maritime island early this week where he also responded to queries and concerns raised by the islanders.

He said the ministry would be piloting the solar-powered ice machines in Yadua, and also in Yasawa and Ono-i-Lau.

“The system is solely reliant on the sun meaning that there would be no need for a generator or fuel to generate power,” Mr Koroilavesau said.
