THE Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) president and Tui Cakau, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, has urged party members to double their efforts for the party’s preparations towards the upcoming polls. The party’s leader, Sitiveni Rabuka, was recently charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) in relation to his declaration of assets and liabilities last year. In a statement yesterday issued by the party, Ratu Naiqama urged party members and families to continue praying for Fiji and to remain united behind their leader. “He has been exemplary in his leadership of the party since he was appointed two years ago, and I am delighted and encouraged by the progress he has made in our collective effort to prepare SODELPA for the 2018 election,” Ratu Naiqama said. “To SODELPA family and friends, I urge you to remain calm and steadfast in your resolve. “Unity and co-operation are the only way forward for us.” He also commended the support rendered towards the party and urged SODELPA members to refrain from making comments in the media, particularly on social media platforms on the case. “I want to reassure our SODELPA officials, members and supporters to remain steadfast, and I ask you to continue your efforts to bring about the change we all want,” he added.
