A SOCIAL Democratic Liberal Party government will address the lack of decent housing by increasing the housing supply to cater for the increasing demand, says Opposition spokesman on the economy, Aseri Radrodro.
In his response to the 2018/2019 National Budget, Mr Radrodro said the costs of houses in Fiji were outrageous.
He claimed that if the escalation of housing prices in the country was not addressed, Fiji could soon become another Australia and New Zealand where it was impossible for the middle and the lower income earners to own properties.
Mr Radrodro said a SODELPA government would also offer an alternative to the housing policies introduced by Government in the 2018/2019 National Budget that would be looked after by the newly established Ministry of Housing and Community Development.
He also said a SODELPA government would ensure the economy grew by ensuring the private sector was supported with the right environment conducive to increase investor confidence.
“We will remove the excessive control currently displayed and promote development through equal opportunities for all races,” Mr Radrodro said.
“We will introduce partnerships between resource owners and investors to reverse the current trend of resource rich and cash poor that landowners often lament.”
