SISTERS Dipti and Deepal Chand will cheer each other up as they both compete for the Vodafone Ba Riverside Carnival crown this year.

Dipti, 20, is representing Ba Town Council while her sister Deepal, 22, is representing Web Media & Signs.

Speaking to this newspaper, both sisters said they were excited about joining the pageant and supporting each other.

Ms Dipti, a beauty therapist and hairdresser, said she had always dreamt of being a contestant.

“I will be using this platform to advocate for solid waste management because littering is a major concern,” she said.

“There needs to be more awareness and campaigns because littering has a very negative impact on our environment.”

Ms Deepal, an accounts clerk, said she would be speaking more about flooding in Ba.

“This is something which we have faced earlier this year and this affects a lot of people in the community too,” she said.

Both say the support from their family has been great and they are looking forward to competing in the Vodafone Ba Riverside Carnival.
