The competition served as the practice round for the 44th sponsored RC Manubhai sponsored Ba Open Championship which will be played at the Rarawai course this weekend.
RC Manubhai’s sponsorship is the longest in the history of sporting activities in the country.
Club captain Pradeep Chandra said the sponsorship was a milestone for the annual tournament which started back in 1931.
Chandra said more than 100 golfers would grace the Rarawai course.
“Despite the dry spell, the course has been well maintained,” he said.
“This has been possible through the support of FSC, Ba. The greens are in a superb condition and the players will enjoy testing their chipping and putting skills.”
Last year’s winner Abid Hussain is in top form and is the frontrunner for the title.
Hussain has been very consistent this season and represented the nation at the World Amateur Team Championship in Japan recently.
He will face stiff competition from the likes of Olaf Frank Grant Allen, Anuresh Chandra and Roneel Prakash.
Local boys Rohit Chandra and Asish Chand are also in good form.
Anuresh has won the tournament seven years in a row. Ba Golf Club has produced prominent golfers such as Jalen Raman, Indra Warjan, Rajen Singh and Vikrant Chandra who has turned professional.
