Singapore 7s: Fiji on top of the world

FIJI Airways 7s team is flying on top of the world winning the HSBC Singapore7s to lead the World Sevens Series.
In a heart stopping final against Australia, Alosio Naduva scored the final try for Fiji on over time to seal the victory, 26-22.
Fiji led 14-10 at the breather but lost grasp of the lead with Australia leading 22-21 in the dying seconds of the game.
A penalty to Fiji, a scrum with the timer showing full-time turned the game around with Amenoni Nasilasila passing to the blind side and setting up Naduva for the winning try.
“I’m speechless. Australia are a very good side and took us to the wire. We gave everything for this final, ” Fiji 7s captain Jerry Tuwai said.
“Winning this tournament will boost our morale going to London and Paris.
“To all the people in the stadium, thank you very much for the support and back home thank you very much for your prayers, support and belief in this young team.”
Waisea Nacuqu was the player of the final after scoring two tries in the first four minutes of the final.
Fiji’s win makes it three titles in a row with wins in Vancouver and Hong Kong and it’s fourth in the series including Hamilton 7s earlier in the year.
Fiji now leads the series at 145 points, four ahead of South Africa. New Zealand is third at 120 points.
There are two legs of the series left- Paris and London before teams prepare for the Rugby World Cup 7s in San Francisco on July 20-22.
And in usual Fijian fashion, fireworks erupted following the victory and the television is already replaying Fiji’s games.
