A 50-YEAR-OLD serving prisoner has been sentenced to four years and six months for sexually assaulting an intellectually disabled woman.
The Nausori Magistrates Court was told the man had sexually assaulted the 43-year-old woman in a village in Tailevu on August 16, 2014.
Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne said the offence was committed while the man was on bail for a separate rape case, adding that the man was presently serving a 10-year prison sentence which would be completed in 2026.
He ordered that the sentence this week be served consecutive to the already imposed 10-year imprisonment term.
