A ONE-day workshop to be held today will see stakeholders share and discuss information on sea turtle conservation projects that they have undertaken over the past years.

A statement by WWF-Pacific that is organising the workshop known as the National Sea Turtle Conservation Workshop in partnership with the Ministry of Fisheries says the workshop will also see stakeholders review the National Sea Turtle Recovery Plan.

According to WWF-Pacific, Fiji’s 10-year turtle moratorium will come to an end in December later this year, and the data and discussions that will be shared will provide the necessary data for the Ministry of Fisheries and stakeholders to navigate the way forward when the moratorium comes to an end.

This is a first time in years that stakeholders across the country have been brought together to plan the way forward for turtle conservation in Fiji.

The workshop will be held at Studio 6 in Suva and formalities are expected to begin at 8:35am.
